Daily MealsSerfs didn't have many choices and usually just ate a plain meal of bread and stew. The bread was made from grain such as barley and wheat- which was mixed with meat, especially pork- which had to be grounded into flour. However, since serfs didn't have mills, they had to pay to use their lord's (he was the only one allowed to have a windmill). The stew consisted of beans, dried peas, cabbage, and other vegetables. It was usually flavored with a bit of meat or bones.
