The Best Part...What did they eat?
The nobility ate a wide range of food including "expensive dried foods, almonds, and spices from Asia." Food was heavily spiced and salted to mask the taste of rotting food. Many animals were hunted, like rabbits, geese, wood pigeons, duck, and wild boar. Feasts had three courses of cooked meats such as fish, swan and peacocks, followed by a lot of sweet and spicy dishes.
